MARJORIE SNEED
ADA-Services for Marjorie Leene Sneed, 87, Ada, are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, the Revs. Don Griffin and Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Ms. Sneed died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at her home. She was born July 1, 1922 at Ada to Roy L. and Gertrude Cassidy Sneed. She lived in this area all her life, attended Irving grade school and graduated from Ada High School in 1940. She received Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from East Central University. Ms. Sneed was the registrar at Ada High School for 38 years, retiring in 1984. She was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Charlotte Landrith and husband Paul, Ada; a niece, Paula E. Roberts, Ada; a nephew, Thomas S. Landrith and wife Gayle, Ada; great nieces and great nephews, Ryan and Kathy Roberts, Bixby, Allyson and Steve Carson, Oklahoma City, Matt and Hollie Landrith, Houston, Texas, and Meredith and Britt Morris, Ardmore; and nine great great nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be her nephews, Matt Landrith, Ryan Roberts, Steve Carson, Britt Morris, Douglas Kelley and Chester Sneed. Honorary bearers will be the members of the Asbury United Methodist Church.

ADA-Services for Hazel Dee “Grandma” West, 96, Ada are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Carl West and the Rev. Mike Frederick will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis.
Mrs. West died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at her home. She was born Oct. 13, 1913 southwest of Bagwell, Texas to Irvy Knox and Gillie Delilah Pryor Gentry. She walked with her family and siblings behind a covered wagon to Oklahoma at the age of 6.
She married Aubrey Raymond West on June 23, 1934 at Free Will Baptist Church in the community of Bryant, Okla. He died June 4, 1983 in Ada.
Mrs. West was a homemaker, nurse and known as “Grandma West” for being a childcare giver for literally hundreds of children at her home and church nurseries in Ada and California.
Survivors include a younger sister, Jewel Richey, Norman; younger brother, James Gentry and wife Pam, California; two sons, Carl West and wife Ruby, California and Dwain West and wife Mary, Ada; one daughter, Kay Johnson and husband Bob, Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; Dwain and Crystal West, Calif., Johnny and Dee Dee West, Calif., Deanna and David Piercy, Ada, Kathy and Paul Bonar, Oklahoma City, Dan and Deena West, Ada, and Sherri and Danny Coats, Ada, Mike and Miranda West, Bixby, David and Debbie West, Ada, Stephen and Becky Hartman, Oklahoma City, Don and Leahna West, Ada, and Debbie and Troy Jones, Ada; 26 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aubrey West; a son, Dwight West and his wife Marilyn; four sisters and six brothers.
Bearers will be her grandsons, Johnny West, Dan West, Mike West, David West, Stephen Hartman, and Don West. Honorary bearers will be Dwain West, David Piercy, Troy Jones and Paul Bonar.
