ELAINE KEYES
ADA — Services for Trudy Elaine Keyes, 52, Ada, formerly of Florence, S.C., are 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Harold Ware officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Baptist Cemetery, Evergreen, S.C.
Mrs. Keyes died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at her home. She was born Jan. 5, 1957, in Anderson, S.C., to Hubert Alvin and Dorothy Wanda Lee Lambert McElveen.
She graduated from West Florence High School in Florence, S.C., and graduated from Betty Stevens Beauty College in 1982. She was a hair stylist at Ada Retirement and Care Center, and at Tracie’s Family Hair Care, and previously owned and operated Family Hair Care in Florence, S.C. She moved to Ada in April 2004 from Florence, S.C., and was a member of First Baptist Church in Ada and a former member of Southside Baptist Church in Florence, S.C.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy McElveen, Ada; two sons, Adam Neil Blackman, Ada; and Anthony Wayne Blackman and wife Amanda, Norfolk, Va.; a grandson, Xander Blackman, Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Jeanette Clarke and husband Doug, Alford, N.Y.; and Wanda Barnes and husband Frank, Ada; two nephews, Ian Clarke, Alford, N.Y. and Kristopher Robb, Afghanistan; and two uncles, Clifton McElveen and wife Linda, Columbia, S.C.; and Linwood McElveen and wife Mary, Columbia, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Johnny McElveen.

AUBREY, Texas — Services for Jerry Vaughn Whittle, 59, Aubrey, Texas, are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Midway Baptist Church, Pilot Point, Texas, the Rev. Howard Bowman officiating. Burial follows at Belew Cemetery, Pilot Point.
Mr. Whittle died Nov. 8, 2009, in Dallas. He was born Dec. 7, 1949, in Oklahoma City to Jerry and Lela Mae Whittle and raised in Ada, Okla., where he attended school and worked with Lela and Marvin Barnes in the world of horse racing.
At age 20, Mr. Whittle moved his family to Texas and worked in his father's boat business. He opened his own dealership in the early 1980s in Lewisville, Texas.
Mr. Whittle was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and owner of Jerry Whittle Boats in Lewisville.
Survivors include a son, Vaughn Whittle; a daughter, Cory Whittle; daughter-in-law Alyssa Whittle and son-in-law Craig Smith; his father, Jerry Whittle Sr.; stepfather, Marvin Barnes; three grandchildren, Weldon, Taylor and Avree; and by three sisters, Mitcha Woodson, Stacy Nelmes and Shelley Messer.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, from 6-9 p.m. at Dalton and Son Funeral Home in Lewisville.
