Sounding Board, Feb. 17, 2008

“I just called in to complain a little bit about yesterday I was in a local store looking for an item or two. I picked up approximately 10 items which all were made in China. So, I just walked out of the store and didn’t buy anything. I wonder if we couldn’t get a little more “U.S.A. stuff somewhere?”

“I enjoyed the article about the Ada Narcotics Unit making a dent in the drug trade in Ada. Unfortunately, the problem will remain a problem until the judges and police decide to go after the illegals. My cousin is a police chief in eastern Oklahoma, and they had two nurseries and a large factory and concrete company that hired illegals extensively. They decided about two years ago to monitor their activities more closely. They raided one nursery and a factory and found large quantities of marijuana and crack cocaine at both facilities. They arrested three American managers and deported several illegals. Most of the rest left on their own. DUI and drug arrests have dropped significantly. We can do that here.”

“My comment today is taken from “Express your opinion. Question is ‘Should celebrities with substance abuse problems be exploited by tabloids?’ I say, shut down the supermarket tabloids and save some trees.”

“I just got my Ada News and low and behold another scandal. When are the citizens of Ada going to stand up and get rid of the current administration?”

“Schools should be built and modernized when the cost is justified by the need. The buildings we currently have were built when people so loved their children and those of their neighbors that they willing made a sacrifice for those children. Are the children of today any less worthy of a safe and pleasant learning environment? We will replace Glenwood. The traffic there is a nightmare. But, must we wait until someone is injured before we see progress for our kids?”

“If the administration knew about that teacher in November and swept it under the rug, while they proceeded to fire football coaches who have done nothing wrong, do we see there something wrong with this scenario and students standing up for themselves instead of being backed by the administration?”

“Concerning the Ada teacher, it is a sad day in Ada when the majority of the community feels nothing done because of the poor leadership through the Superintendent, school board members and Ada High principal.”

“Concerning the Ada High teacher accused of providing alcohol to students on a school trip. Why have the students not been called in to give their side of the story? My son was called in the Monday after he participated in a school event where there was alcohol. It was solved in a matter of days.
