Shirley Louise Gilley

Services for Shirley Louise Gilley were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood with the Rev. Glenn Adams officiating.

Shirley was born on July 20, 1942, in Wynnewood to Jackie Diberal and Artie Aleta (White) Dixon. She passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 ,in Wynnewood at the age of 67.

Shirley and Junior Lee Gilley were united in marriage on June 7, 1958, in Wynnewood at the Westside Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1997.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, Jackie and Artie Dixon; and one brother, Franklin Delano Dixon.

Shirley was a member of the Eastern Gate Baptist Church. For most of her life she was a devoted homemaker. After her husband became ill, she began working in the Wynnewood Elementary School cafeteria.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed her large vegetable and flower garden.

Shirley and Junior tried to live their lives according to the “Golden Rule.” Matthew 7:12.

Shirley is survived by three daughters: Carol Steele and husband David of Wynnewood, Susan Murray and husband Ray of Sulphur, and Patti Ann Tuley and husband Derrick of Davis; two sons: Robbie Gilley and wife Rhonda, and Tristan Gilley, both of Wynnewood; six grandchildren; Mathan Murray, Daniel Steele, Katie and Landon Gilley and Elizabeth and Claire Tuley; as well as one sister, Lelia Spurlock; and seven brothers: Guston, Clifton Ray, Floyd, Cletues, Robert, Gerald and Dib Dixon Jr.

Service were entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis, Okla.
