Effie J. Orosco

Effie J. Orosco of Pauls Valley was born Dec. 8, 1919, in Marfa, Texas, to Estanilado and Isabel (Lugar) Jacquez. She passed away, after a lengthy illness, on Oct. 12, 2009, in Pauls Valley, Okla., at the age of 89 years.

On Aug. 12, 1942, she and Jesus V. Orosco were married in Marfa, Texas.

Effie was a very devoted and affectionate lady. She enjoyed all her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking for everyone as well as gardening and keeping her home. She was a very good Christian woman who dedicated her life to God in 1979 in Amarillo, Texas.

During her years she touched many lives. Pauls Valley had been her home since 1981.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 66 years, Jesus V. Orosco on May 13, 2009; as well as one sister and five brothers; the last surviving member of the Estanilado and Isabel Jaquez family.

Surviving family include her children: Jesse Orosco and his wife, Mary, of Amarillo, Texas, Joe Orosco and his wife, Kate, of Marfa, Texas, Robert Orosco and his wife, Diana, of Oklahoma City, Emilia Espitia and Sammy Apodaca of Pauls Valley, Oscar Orosco and his wife, Minnie, of Denton, Texas, Julie Coke, Raymond Orosco and his wife, Jeanette and Armando Orosco and his wife, Janet, all of Oklahoma City, and Rosie Rivera and her husband, Pablo, of Taylor, Texas; 30 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and 37 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Espitia, Lee Espitia, Frankie Solis, Cody Batts, Mike Espitia, Jeremy Orosco, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A rosary service will be held in the Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine’s of Sienna Catholic Church officiated by Father Mike Vaught. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
