Joe Paul Garner
Joe Paul Garner was born June 24, 1927, in Elmore City, Okla., and passed away Oct. 15, 2009, in Pauls Valley, Okla., at the age of 82 years.
Joe Paul grew up in Elmore City and graduated from Elmore City High School in 1946. He married Joan Cagle on Feb. 8, 1947.
Joe Paul loved his family and his farm. He raised cattle until his health no longer allowed him to take care of them. One of his favorite things was going to the coffee shop and visiting with his friends where they “solved all the world’s major problems.”
Joe Paul worked in the oil fields and later drove a cement mixer truck for Dolese Co. for some 27 years before retiring and moving back to Elmore City.
Survivors include his wife: Joan Garner of the home; three grandchildren and their spouses: Christy and Chad Hefty, Jamiee and Richard Yeo, and J.P. and Cassie Gentry, all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and six great-grandchildren.
Joe Paul was preceded in death by two daughters, Gail Gentry and Debbie Garner; his parents, Sam and Myrtie Garner; one brother and two sisters.
Graveside services for Mr. Garner are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Elmore City Cemetery with Joe Terrell officiating. Interment will be in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the Elmore City Church of Christ.
