Mary Patterson Jordan

Mary Patterson Jordan of Pauls Valley, Okla., was born to John and Stella (Walker) Patterson on March 14, 1921, in Macreeville, Texas, and passed from this life on Oct. 18, 2009, in Pauls Valley at the age of 88 years.

Mary grew up in San Saba, Texas, and graduated from San Saba High School in 1938.

She married Joseph Durwood Jordan on May 13, 1938. Mary and Joe moved 38 times during their marriage, settling in Pauls Valley in June 1957 where they lived for the next 52 years. She was an active member of the Pauls Valley First Presbyterian Church.

Mary was a good listener, a nurturing woman and had a firm and unshakable belief in Jesus Christ and lessons of eternal life. Mary lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed her church circle, loved to play and host bridge parties and donated approximately 4,000 hours to the Pauls Valley Hospital Auxiliary, of which she was a founding member.

She also enjoyed gardening, sewing and cross-stitching. The most important thing she taught her family and friends was to live life to the fullest and never miss a chance to tell someone you love them.

Mrs. Jordan is survived by one son: Joseph Peter Jordan of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters: Mary Patricia Wood and her husband Hoyt of Midwest City, Okla., and Carole Navarre and her husband Duane of Pauls Valley, Okla.; seven grandchildren: Mary Leyba and husband Ray of Choctaw, Okla., Joe Wood and wife Suzette of Norman, Okla., Amy Wood of Norman, Okla., Robert and Sam Navarre of Shawnee, Okla., Susan Anderson and husband Mark of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tom Jordan and wife Danielle of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren: Patti and Kristy Leyba of Oklahoma City, Ray Leyba Jr. and wife Amber of Choctaw, Okla., Amanda Wood of Norman, Okla., Sarah and Erin Wood of Mustang, Okla., and Lilly Mary Jordan of Phoenix, Ariz.; three great-great-grandchildren: Braeden and Gavin Leyba of Choctaw, Okla., and Greysen Leyba of Oklahoma City; and beloved niece: Mary Jo Fiveash of Pauls Valley, Okla.

Mrs. Jordan was preceeded in death by her husband: Joseph Durwood Jordan; parents: John and Stella Patterson; and brothers: Sam Walker Patterson and John William Patterson Jr.

A memorial service for Mrs. Jordan is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Pauls Valley with the Rev. Tom Buzbee officiating.
