Charles Darvis Allen

Charles Darvis Allen, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2009, in Lawton, Okla.

He was born March 28, 1928, in Elmore City, Okla., to George Washington and Hester Pearl (Pyle) Allen.

He graduated at Pauls Valley, Okla., and received a TV degree in 1954 from Okmulgee Technical School. He served with the U.S. Army from 1950-52.

Charles was a soda jerk at Crabtree Drug in Pauls Valley. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, American Legion and the Church of Christ.

He married Mary Ann Work on December 17, 1955, in Wynnewood, Okla.

Charles started his career for the Vumore Company in Ardmore, Okla., and moved to Cablecom in Hobart in 1957. He worked 39 years as a cable technician and retired from Cablecom as manager.

Survivors include his wife Mary Ann Work Allen of the home; two daughters: Winona Allen Duty and Hobart, Okla., and Donna Kay Fulks of Purcell, Okla.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and one sister: Wilma Welch of Pauls Valley, Okla.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, Okla., under the direction of Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home, Hobart, Okla.
