Facing up to holiday fun

By Barry Porterfield
Pauls Valley Daily Democrat

Main Street Pauls Valley is getting into the Halloween spirit by holding a fundraiser that sets up people up for their Halloween activities.

On Friday and Saturday party-goers can get their faces painted in trick or treat makeup by Main Street Director Samantha Robb and Main Street member Deanna Joy Stephens. The two women will offer the Halloween service at the Toy & Action Figure Museum on South Chickasaw Street.

“If someone wants something for Boo on the Bricks or they’re going to a Halloween party, we can help them out with the face painting,” Robb said.

Depending on the size and detail of the face paintings, the price ranges from $5 to $20.

Robb plans to tackle the “big stuff,” while Stephens is expected to be there for the smaller face paintings.

“She’ll do the pretty stuff,” Robb said, referring to Stephens.

“I will do the things that make someone look like a ghoul, a monster or even a butterfly. If I can see it I can do it,” she said, adding her favorites are butterflies, kitty cats and various animals.

“We’re hoping it’s something that will take off and we can do it every year,” Robb said.

To reserve an appointment for the face painting, call the Main Street office at (405) 238-2555 or e-mail at mspv@sbcglobal.net.

Other Halloween activities on Friday include the downtown trick or treating from 4 to 6 p.m.

Main Street’s other fundraiser originally planned for Friday evening has for now been put on hold. The Beulah Hall volunteer extravaganza and chili dog chow down has been postponed,

“We will postpone the chow down event,” Robb said. “We’re disappointed but it’s good news because it means we just have a lot going on here in town. There’s so much going on we don’t want to take away from that.”

A family event is planned Friday at the King’s Kids center on West Charles featuring hot dogs and gospel music.
