Howard Lester Bridges
Howard Lester Bridges of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born to Richmond and Mandy Jane (McLauphlin) Bridges on September 15, 1920 in Walters, Oklahoma and passed from this life on November 2, 2009 in Pauls Valley at the age of 89 years.
Howard grew up and attended school in Walters, Oklahoma. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and received the purple heart and other ribbons of recognition.
Howard married Lottie Mae Hayes and together they made their home in Lindsay, Oklahoma for many years where he worked and retired from Chevron Oil. In 1999, Howard and Lottie moved to Pauls Valley.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, dancing, fishing, and fiddling around in his barn.
Mr. Bridges is survived by his wife: Lottie Mae Bridges; 1 daughter: Nancy Marie Hoyle of Troy, Alabama; 2 grandchildren: Leanne Dodson and her husband Dan of Tucson, Arizona, and Tracey Hensley and her husband Craig of Troy, Alabama; and 3 great-grandchildren: Whitney Hensley, and Tanner Hensley of Troy, Alabama, and Haley Dodson of Tucson, Arizona.
Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by his son: Howard Ray Bridges; his parents: Richmond and Mandy Bridges; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Bridges are scheduled for Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Walters Cemetery in Walters, Oklahoma with Rev. Kent Wooster officiating.
