A “runoff” election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26 for Pontotoc County Commissioner District 2.
The race is between incumbent Carl Wages and front-runner Danny Davis. In the primary election held in July, Wages came out ahead in a very close, three-way battle. He beat out challengers Davis and Harvey Wilson, but fell short of the 51 percent needed to secure the position. Voters must reside within District 2 and be registered Democrats.
During a primary election where more than two candidates within the same party are running for the same seat, the winner must not only beat the other candidates but also secure more than half of the total vote.
