VAMOOSA — Drew and Phyllis Isaacs, pastors of Grace Community Church at Vamoosa, recently released their new book, “Freedom and Release: Hope for Captives and Prisoners.”
The text is taken from Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18-19 where Jesus declared he came to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for prisoners. The authors discuss a Biblical view of what captive and prisoners are and how they are different.
Their unusual and new approach to this subject is receiving recognition across the United States. One church in the Chicago area recently purchased 100 copies to use as a ministry tool for those who have come out of drug addiction and gangs.
One chapter of the book deals with how shame has destroyed many people. Most people do not know the difference between guilt and shame, according to Drew Isaacs. “‘Freedom and Release’ will teach you the difference and explain how shame cripples people from all walks of life,” he said. “The good news is that Jesus can reveal our shame and deliver us.”
Dr. Iverna Tompkins is a nationally known author and conference speaker who highly recommends the book. “I love this little book and believe it is truly capable of being a lifechanger to many,” Tompkins said. “My prayer is that it will be published and promoted and distributed before the enemy has a chance to destroy another person with shame.”
The Rev. Jim Hodges is a former instructor at Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas. He currently serves as the president and founder of the Federation of Ministers and Churches International. After reading “Freedom and Release,” he said “The author’s revelation on shame is the best I have ever heard or read anywhere.”
The Isaacses have served as pastors of Grace Community Church for more than 14 years. The church is located 15 miles north of Ada in the former Vamoosa school. Phyllis is soon to complete her doctoral studies in English education from the University of Oklahoma. For the past five years, Drew has traveled in the United States, Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia proclaiming the message of Freedom and Release.
Copies of “Freedom and Release” can be purchased for $10 at the Good Book Store in Ada. For more information or to purchase the book in larger quantities, phone (580) 925-3545.
