Ray Davis and Pocketful of Blues to play in Ada

ADA — Ray Davis and Pocketful of Blues will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22 in the courtyard of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church for Jazz in June concert.

Cultivated in the thick, red dirt of Oklahoma, Ray Davis has blown his harmonicas and sung his soulful versions of jazz, blues, funk and reggae across the southwest United States. From California’s Route 66 off the 101 Freeway in California to the famous Blue Cat Blues in Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas, Ray Davis and Pocketful of Blues have rocked crowds with their ever-pleasing cover songs as well as with Davis’ sincere originals.

Ray Davis and Pocketful of Blues has released three live CD’s and are currently creating their first studio collaboration of originals. Davis and his band have opened for such popular blues artists as Susan Tedeschi, Johnny Lang, and the legendary Chicken Hawks. Davis has starred in a regional Braum’s television commercial featuring his singing and harp playing. He has an established fan following and can be seen at numerous blues festivals across the Midwest.

In commenting on the upcoming concert, the Rev. John Norvell, parish rector, said “we’re so glad to have Ray and his band with us and we plan to have a really great evening of music for everyone. We’re always looking for ways to open our doors to the wider community.”

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is located at 17th and Broadway. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public. Ice cream sundaes and drinks will be served.
