Sasakwa church ministry commissioned by Oklahoma Faith Riders Ministry

SASAKWA — Approximately 20 members of Sasakwa First Baptist Church were commissioned as the 39th ministry chapter in Oklahoma of the Faith Riders Minstry. The name of this organization comes from F - forgiveness, A - available, I - impossible, T- turn, H -heaven; the goals is to lead a contact to willingly pray a prayer which acknowledges one’s self to be a sinner, believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for one’s sins, and commit one’s life to Jesus Christ’s ownership and lordship.

This nationwide ministry began in Lakeland, Fla., as a way to reach out to persons whose passion is motorcycles and all that goes with this lifestyle in order to tell them of the life changes which have present and eternal value when they come to know Jesus. Oklahoma has outnumbered Florida in ministry chapter formations in the past two years, since December 2007 when the Oklahoma Faith Riders Ministry began. Florida has 27 chapters, while Oklahomahas 39 and a 40th chapter is pllaned by the end of August. Eight to 10 more churches are preparing to join this ministry in this state by the end of December 2009.

The commissioning occured at the Sasakwa’s church’s evening service Aug. 9 with bikers coming from Lawton, Oklahoma City, Comanche, Shawnee and other locations in Oklahoma along with some who just rode in from having attended the annual Sturgis, S.D., Motorcycle Rally. Last Year, Oklahoma sent 20 Faith Riders to Sturgis, and this year 50 Oklahoma Riders attended this event.

For more information contact Gary Choate at 405-941-3975 or Lorne Bartlett at 580-941-3139, co-leaders of the local ministry, or Gene Choate Sr., 405-941-3245, or Ed White 405-941-3381. Faith Rider’s website is at www.oklahomafaithriders.com or www.faithriders.com.
