Recently Vanoss sixth and seventh grade academic bowl teams competed for a trip to the OJABA State competition. Vanoss A team went undefeated through the eighth-round tournament to win the championship game by 150 points. There were nine other schools involved in the tournament: Dale, N. Rock Creek, Wynnewood, Jones, Stratford, Grove, Colbert, Tishomingo, and Wewoka. They will compete April 5 at the University of Oklahoma. Team members are, back left to right, Dillon Rea, Kenzie Akers, Zac Dansby, Carlee Henderson, Georgie McCurdy, Destiny Coley, Tanner Byrd, Caleb Stone, Coach Amy Cantwell; front left to right, Jacob Grimm, Landon Sloan, Ethan Byrd, Kalli Mowdy, Vanessa Cothren and Caylin Ballard.
