ECU alum given honor

OKLAHOMA CITY – A Tulsa, Okla. certified public accountant became the 50th inductee into the Oklahoma Accounting Hall of Fame during the Oklahoma Society of CPAs annual awards ceremony on June 12.

J. Patrick Milligan, CPA, a partner at HoganTaylor, LLP in Tulsa, became the newest member of a very exclusive class of Oklahoma CPAs.

An OSCPA fellow member since 1981, Milligan graduated in 1977 from East Central University in Ada, Okla., and later joined Hogan & Slovacek, LLP in 1984. In January 2009, Hogan & Slovacek merged with Tullius Taylor Sartain & Sartain. He is a current shareholder in the tax division of the Tulsa office, specializing as a tax consultant with an emphasis on closely held organizations and family wealth. Recently, he has become proficient in retirement and personal financial planning and serves as a principal team member for Disciplined Investments, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of HoganTaylor, which offers investment planning and management services.

An active member of the OSCPA, Milligan has served in many leadership positions, including chair of the Continuing Professional Education Committee for the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants at both the State and Tulsa Chapter levels. He is also a past president of both the OSCPA and the Tulsa Chapter.

Donald Orr, CPA, an OSCPA fellow member and last year’s Accounting Hall of Fame Inductee, said, “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Pat for a lot of years and it wasn’t until I had the opportunity to work with him on the Executive Committee of the OSCPA that I came to fully appreciate him. Both his personal and professional attributes are as solid as a rock.  He is definitely an asset to the OSCPA and our profession.”

David Hogan, CPA, a senior advisor at HoganTaylor and a fellow member of the OSCPA, said, “Pat is a dedicated professional and has always been actively involved in OSCPA activities. He is a tireless worker and has many long-time clients that look to him for ongoing advice. He is very deserving of this award.”
