PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Herbert Elwood “Woody” King Jr., age 61, formerly of Ashtabula, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 23, 1948, in Ashtabula, the son of Herbert E. and Deloris (Adams) King Sr. and had been an Ashtabula resident most of his life, moving to Florida in 2003.
A 1966 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he worked as the IT manager at Rockwell International, MIS Director at PHB, Inc. and then as a real estate agent during his years in Florida.
He was a member of Port Charlotte Moose Club and a past member of the BPO Elks, the Ashtabula Beagle Club and the First Christian Church.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and his family.
His survivors include his wife, Shirley (Bennett) whom he married Nov. 26, 2006; two sons, Robert King of Miami, Fla. and Mark (Echo) King of Akron; two grandsons, Zachary and Avery King; one brother, Dennis (LuAnn) King of N. Kingsville; one sister, Nancy (Jim) Partridge of Ashtabula; three nephews, Mike, Matt and Adam Partridge; his parents, Herbert and Deloris King of Ashtabula; and one step-daughter, Kelly (Eddie) Scarpelli.
A Service will be 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 10th, at ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Walfred Scofield, Interim Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Calling Hours will be at the Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 9th, and from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the Service.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
