By Andrew W. Griffin pop writer As many of you digest yesterday's Thanksgiving feast, country music legend Willie Nelson will roll into Norman today to perform at Riverwind Casino at 8 p.m. And 2009 has been a busy year for the icon from Abbott, Texas, who released two albums -- "Naked Willie," a collection of old songs stripped of the fluff and production of the late 1960s and early 1970s, and "American Classic," a recording of pop standards that nearly equals his 1978 release, "Stardust.....more>>

By Andrew W. Griffin pop writer If you ever catch some of the rootsy, regional country music on certain radio stations in Oklahoma or Texas, there's a chance you've caught a song by the Scott Wiggins Band, a top-notch group from New Braunfels, Texas, that released an album in 2007, "Burn," and is still producing some stellar singles like "Perfect Way To Fall," currently in the Top 10 of the Texas Music chart.

'Forget and Not Slow Down' has plenty of hooks and heart
By Andrew W. Griffin pop writer
Relient K "Forget and Not Slow Down" Mono vs. Stereo / Jive (2009)
There is an appealing urgency to Relient K's latest offering, "Forget and Not Slow Down." A melodic rock guitar chord with a snappy snare kicks things off, then goes into an acoustic guitar before charging ahead as vocalist Matt Thiessen sings, "How many times / can I push it aside / is it time I befriended all the ghosts of all the things that haunt me most / so they leave me alone / move on with my life.

Soaring to Neverland
By Nanette Light entertainment editor Phil Gibson and Douglas Idlett hold the lifeline to the "Peter Pan" magic at the Sooner Theatre, literally. As Aubrey Adams, the face of the theatre's "Peter Pan," which opens today, glides across the stage, arms outstretched before landing atop the mantle in the Darling children's bedroom during Act 1, the Gibson-Idlett duo are her flight operators off stage left.

Making her mark
By Nanette Light entertainment editor Kate Leary likes to joke that Taylor Swift is slowly crushing her dreams. And when she read online about the country music star and John Mayer recording a duet, she had to walk away.

En garde for OU drama
By Johnnie-Margaret McConnell pop writer Fear not young musketeers (and director). This lady owns no sword. I have no intent to create misery for you, but merely use my pen to review the play I saw. Lee Neibert's direction of "The Three Musketeers" is full of details, especially within Mike Buchwald's costumes designs.
