Cats do not smother human babies

Dear Dr. Fox: Kindly review the attached article regarding cats and human babies. Any comments to dispel the old wives' tale of cats smothering infants would be appreciated. Thanks from a fan and animal lover.....more>>

  • Make family vacations stress free
This summer many families will pack up their cars to head out on a family adventure.
According to the 2004 Travel Report, an estimated 170.1 million trips taken in 2003 included children under 18 years of age.

  • When children behave properly they need positive feedback
As my regular readers already know, I am not a fan of rewards given for behaving properly.
First, any improvement in behavior that comes about as a result of reward is almost always short-lived. Second, rewards teach children how to be manipulative, to withhold proper behavior until an adult makes a sufficiently attractive offer, as in "If you will stop that and behave yourself the rest of this shopping trip, I'll buy you that toy you want.

  • Ben Franklin visits center
The Oklahoma History Center presents "An Evening with Benjamin Franklin" 7 p.m. today. Hear Ben tell of his early life in Boston as an apprentice to his brother. Spend time in Philadelphia with stories of printing and inventing.

  • Over the back fence
    Tuttle High School
Tuttle School alumni friends and family are invited to the 63rd reunion of the school. A catered home-style dinner will begin 11:30 a.m. Aug. 22 at the elementary school cafeteria, 106 SW Second.

  • Marriages
The following marriage licenses recently were applied for at the Cleveland County Courthouse:
Crystal Nicole Factor, 28, and Orlando Cruz Navarro, 26
Cristina Louise Sherman, 20, and Jonathan Ray Moore, 21
    Feruza R.

  • Keep summer learning going with kids' garden
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. · Once school is out, kids look for stuff to do.
Gardening could be part of the plan.
In fact, gardening could be summer school in disguise, teaching kids math, science, nutrition and physical health lessons that are fun and adventurous.

  • Divorces
The following divorces recently were granted in Cleveland County District Court:
Dennis, Jeffrey N. vs. Anna M.
Dooley, Lindsay Brooke vs. Justin Cody
Coker, James Christian vs. Jamie Lynn
    Anderson, Mary Ellen vs.

  • The collective melting pot
If you think the title refers to the blending of nationalities and customs when immigrants hit our shores, legally or creatively, you are quite mistaken. We are going to explore the insanity of family reunions convened under the toasty rays of the summer sun.

  • 'Once in a Blue Moon' addresses Alzheimer's
"Once in a Blue Moon," Molly Levite Griffis' latest book, addresses Alzheimer's in a way that children can understand.
Ten-year-old Joey Bennington thought Grandpa "Gunny," Judge Benjamin Franklin Bennington, was the wisest man that ever lived except maybe his namesake Benjamin Franklin.

  • Homemade wedding cake topper adds a personal touch
Weddings often are costly affairs, but with enough advance planning and a little homegrown ingenuity, you can make things instead of shelling out for them.
Wedding magazines and Web sites help, too.
"There's nothing you can't craft for your wedding," said Darcy Miller, editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine.
