  • All-purpose steroids not the answer
    DEAR DR. FOX: We have a 3-year-old male cat that we adopted from the Humane Society when he was 5 weeks old. He is an indoor cat and long-haired, but his fur isn't too thick.
    Last summer, I applied a flea-and-tick solution to the back of his neck, and he lost fur in that area, so I quit using it.
  • It's a new generation
    Because I'm too young to be a part of the Greatest Generation and too old to be included in the Boomer Generation, I've never been able to say where I belonged, generation-wise. And now, it appears, I don't know what I am, profession-wise.
  • Researchers should check court minute books
    At most organizational meetings someone is taking notes or taking the minutes of the proceedings of that organization to ensure the needs of the organization will be accomplished.
    The federal and county courts are no different.
  • Ancestor Fair held by Daugthers of the American Revolution
    Beneath the full sized model of the Winnie Mae, the Oklahoma Society Daughters of the American Revolution enticed prospects and visitors to their tables at the Ancestor Fair recently held at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.
  • Free fair -- something for everyone
    The 101st Cleveland County Free Fair Sept. 4-6 will feature the Mike McClure Band, the All Funk Radio Show, a visit from Miss Oklahoma, Kelsey Cartwright, a celebrity cow milking contest, youth talent show, gospel night, Canadian Rivers Old Iron Club tractor pull and show, 4H, FAA, HCE exhibits, livestock event, carnival and midway, pony rides, children's events and many other attractions and activities.
  • Mom is unwittingly aiding and abetting not so great dad
    Q: My 13-year-old daughter's father is irresponsible, to say the least. In addition to being a lousy co-parent, he frequently cancels visits and is often obviously lying about the reasons.
    Nonetheless, I've told her never to speak badly of him to or even around other people.

  • Miss Twin Territories help with nursing costs
    Two young ladies with very different backgrounds, who both became Oklahoma Society Daughters of the American Revolution during the early history of Oklahoma, have been brought to life as dolls.
    The dolls, offered by the Oklahoma DAR Junior Membership committee, are Miss Indian Territory Addie Hibbs and Miss Oklahoma Territory Laura Baker.
  • Diaper dough
    For three years Jenna McIntosh and her granddaughter, Abby Flax, now 11, have baked bread to help someone in need.
    They bake bread once a week in the summer, sell the bread and use the money to help someone.
  • Damaged liver plagues rescued dog
    Dear Dr. Fox: We are fostering a puppy-mill rescue and have recently learned that she has liver damage. The vet likened her to a human that would be a candidate for a liver transplant.
    Outwardly, she seems OK -- she runs with abandon and plays with our other dogs in the yard.
