    Army Lt. David T. Wright II was considered a hero not only to his parents but also to his fellow soldiers and friends.
    Wright's best friend, 1st Lt. Dax Thomas, said a day hasn't passed when he doesn't stop and think about his college roommate.

  • Roll of honor
    The City of Norman had 360 names engraved onto the Cleveland County Veterans' Memorial tablets Friday afternoon.
    Less than a year after it unveiled the memorial at Reaves Park, the total number of veteran names now stands at 1,964, Parks and Recreation Director Jud Foster said Friday.

    The City of Norman's offices will be closed Veterans Day, although trash service will run Wednesday.
    Cleveland County offices also will be closed in observance of Veterans Day.
    Most banks, because the Federal Reserve will not operate on Veterans Day, won't be open, either.

    Daws Street, between Webster Avenue and James Garner Avenue, will be closed Monday from noon to approximately 5 p.m. for the delivery of modular buildings to the Municipal Court facility.
    Detour signs will be provided to direct the traveling public.
