NEW: Tigers fight back, but still take season ending loss

For a while, it looked like Norman High might just roll over and let Lawton Eisenhower run away with District 6A-2's final playoff spot.
But a funny thing happened at Harve Collins Field Friday night. The Tigers started fighting back.
In fact, they had first-and-10 at the Lawton Ike 22 yard line with 1:30 left in the game, down by seven points.
But Victor Jacobs jumped in front of NHS quarterback Chad Anderson's pass, allowing the Eagles to run out the clock and nab the fourth district playoff position, ending the Tigers' season with a 20-13 loss.
"If there's one thing I want my guys to take away from this game, from this season, it's that you never give up," NHS coach Greg Nation said. "Especially the seniors ... That's not just in football. That's in life. It's not always about football. These lessons are life lessons, too."
The Tigers (4-6, 3-4 District 6A-2) certainly didn't give up Friday.
They had a hard time stopping Lawton Ike's pistol-option offense, run from the shotgun with two halfbacks and a quarterback in the backfield.
Eagles quarterback Adrian McDonald rushed and passed for 68 yards and running back Louis Durant had 47 yards and a touchdown on eight carries as Lawton Ike ran up 194 yards of offense in the first half.
The kickers saw the rest of the early action. Lawton Ike's Colton Rancourt hit two field goals and Logan Hammonds one before the break, and NHS was down 13-3.
Hammonds added another field goal in the third quarter, but a second touchdown by Durant, this time on a 36-yard breakaway, put the Eagles (4-6, 3-4) up 20-6, and it wasn't looking good for the home team.
Fortunately for the Tigers, that was about all Lawton Ike would muster offensively in the second half.
NHS drove down the field late in the third quarter, looking to tighten it up. The first play of the fourth quarter was a 17-yard run by sophomore back Donovan Roberts, but he fumbled on the Lawton Ike 7 yard line.
NHS got the ball back again and drove down and scored on a 9-yard run by Roberts, making it a one-score game.
Meanwhile, the Tiger defense had the option under control.
McDonald lost 13 yards on six carries in the second half and passed for just 21, though Durant finished with 127 yards on 21 carries.
