The first week in July is the projected opening date for the Bojangles in Locust.
Work on the site began in February and crews have worked endlessly to finish the site beside Stanly Com-munity College (SCC) Crutchfield Education Center and West Main Plaza.
“Bojangles is well penetrated in North Carolina, but Locust is an area where we have not been located,” said Eric Newman, executive vice president of development for Bojangles.
Newman said Bojangles has been considering the Locust area for several years and is excited about being a part of the community, especially with the current state of the economy.
“We are currently at 435 restaurants and we’re opening a new one every week. We have not seen a slow down in development even in the current economy,” he said.
The city is also excited for the addition of Bojangles and the boost to the local economy that it can give.
“We’re very excited to have Bojangles decide to locate in the city, especially in these difficult times,” said James Inman, city administrator.
