Spreading patriotic joy

As America pauses this week to celebrate our Independence Day, festivities are continuing all week at the Oakboro 4th Celebration.
As Stanly County joins in the fun at Oakboro, another group of proud citizens will again honor America with another patriotic songfest. For decades now, The Singing Americans of Stanly County have entertained us with musical tributes to this great country we all call home.
Tonight at Market Station, the women and men of The Singing Americans will present “America, We Must Not Forget” — a cantata that will cause each of us to consider our own personal citizenship.
As Stanly County deals with a 12.5-percent unemployment rate, we gather as a community to both honor America through the singing and hearing of this powerful message and to ask for strength and guidance to sustain us through these difficult days.
The Singing Americans will also perform “America, We Must Not Forget” at the Agri-Civic Center on Sunday at 3 p.m.
While we enjoy the myriad of activities available, let’s make time to join in hearing Stanly County’s “Ambassadors to the World” spread their good word in powerful song.
