Christmas comes early at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County. The center is finalizing plans for its 39th rendition of the always-popular Holly Bazaar.

  • EVENTS | Artistic annals
Rodney Eatman and Glenn Brougher will be honored when the 2009 Artists’ Hall of Fame is held Saturday at the Holiday Inn, 250 Market St., downtown Johnstown.

  • Feel the beat | Arts center snares Chinese percussion ensemble
The art of drumming and percussive performance will take center stage as Jigu: Thunder Drums of China comes to Johnstown. The performance group from China’s Shanxi province will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, 450 Schoolhouse Road, Richland Township.

  • 'She's an all-time favorite' | Violinist makes fourth stop with chamber series

  • Mount slates annual medieval mayhem
What was it like celebrating Christmas in 11th century England? One way to find out is to attend the 39th annual Madrigal Christmas Feast, featuring food, drink and a festive spirit. The lavish, interactive dinner-theater is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4-5 and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in Cosgrove Hall at Mount Aloysius College, Cresson.

  • IN BRIEF | Kenny Rogers' tour will stop in Johnstown

  • Lending support | 'Help an Angel in Shelter' benefits Women's Help Center Inc.
An angelic mouse is still helping victims of domestic violence find shelter. “Help an Angel in Shelter,” one of the major fundraisers for the Women’s Help Center Inc. of Cambria and Somerset counties, is in its 20th year. The project’s logo is a mouse dressed as an angel, with paws folded in prayer. “We want to celebrate the success of the project by increasing the awareness of domestic violence,” said help center executive director Susan Shahade.

  • Novel idea | T-D wants readers to become authors

  • Artists' Hall of Fame dinner to feature silent, live auctions
