WEATHERFORD — The adage about the last team with the ball winning the game rang true Friday, as the Burleson Elks drove 80 yards and scored with 20 seconds left to down the Weatherford Kangaroos in a District 3-5A match, 30-27. The 19-play march burned up eight minutes off the fourth-quarter clock, and featured fullback Blake Smith, who had 14 carries in the drive, including the 4-yard plunge to paydirt.

MILLSAP - The Millsap Bulldogs weren’t looking to end the District 9-2A season with a loss. On the other hand, the disappointment was short-lived. The Bulldogs (3-2 in district, 8-2 overall), for the first time since 2002, will be making a playoff appearance. The Bulldogs take on Aubrey Thursday night at Springtown’s Porcupines Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS —The Aledo Bearcats can add another banner to their campus. Proving any doubters that they were the best team in District 9-4A, the Bearcats laid down a beating to the previously undefeated Birdville Hawks Thursday night, 48-13, cementing yet another district crown.

MILLSAP — The Millsap Bulldogs are on the brink of a District 9-2A title. Standing in the way if those hopes is Boyd, who travels to Bulldog Stadium tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Co-Ed Volleyball ends Fall Season - The WISD Community Ed Fall Co-Ed Volleyball League ended last Friday with a tournament.

HALTOM CITY — The Weatherford Lady Roos showed dominance early in a tightly contested Class 5A bi-district match against the Mansfield Summit Lady Jaguars, Tuesday night.

It was a disappointing start on both ends, as the Weatherford Coyotes and Lady Coyotes both fell to Lon Morris Tuesday night at Betty Jo Crumm Graber Athletic Center.

ALEDO — It’s no secret Thursday night’s game between Aledo and Birdville is more than just the district finale. The Hawks head into the contest completely undefeated, with a District 9-4A record of 6-0 and an overall record of 9-0.

Hall seventh grade ends on high note

Monday, the Hall Kangaroos took on Tison in football action. The white team started the night off with a 20-18 win. Kasen Black started the scoring off by returning a punt for the first score.
